Advanced Medical Wound Imaging System (AMWISTM) The Advanced Medical Wound Imaging System (AMWISTM) has evolved from Medseed’s early partnership with the Alfred Hospital. In 2001 Medseed and the Alfred released a low cost wound care telemedicine product known as the Alfred Medseed Wound Imaging System. Version one of the early product, also known as AMWIS, was awarded a Baxter National Healthcare Innovation Award in 2002 for advancement in service management practices. AMWIS has been extensivley reported in the literature. It has shown its worth in reduced costs, most notably patient transport costs, and in its ability to deliver desirable health outcomes. A recent study in the Kimberley Health Region report just one diabetic foot related amputation in the AMWIS user group compared with eleven in the control group. A number of innovative AMWIS research projects are currently underway. The suite was developed in partnership between the Victorian Infectious Diseases Service at Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia and Medseed Pty Ltd. GUIDANCE DS® includes the following modules: iAPPROVE® - a hospital restricted drug approval system; iGUIDE® - a syndromic guideline creation system; iMICRO® - a hospital pathology results browser and antimicrobial knowledge base; and the BUILDERTM - a guideline editor which used eDSML, a variant of XML. Health OneTM was originally developed by Dr Alain Maskens in Belgium in the early 1990s in response to the original Good European Health Record project (GEHR). Health OneTM is currently available as a provider system for medical clinics, hospitals and health enterprises. This will soon be joined by an Internet based personal health record system.
